Sweet sibs! Academy Award-winning actress Reese Witherspoon posted a photo of her two sons — Deacon, 14, and Tennessee, 5 — on her Instagram page over the weekend. “My guys. #LoveThem #bros,” the Wild actress, 41, captioned the image of her elder son giving the preschooler a piggyback ride.
In response to the shooting in Texas that left 26 people dead Sunday (November 5) at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, the mom-of-three shared a heartfelt message with her followers.
The Legally Blonde star is encouraging her fans to call their senator in a plea to end gun violence.
“I’m just so heartbroken over the shooting in a Baptist church today in #SutherlandSprings Texas. This gun violence must end. #PrayForTexas#EnoughIsEnough #callyoursenator,” she wrote.
Last week, the actress rocked the red carpet with her lookalike daughter Ava, 18, at the WSJ Magazine’s 2017 Innovator Awards on Wednesday (November 1). The lookalike duo were all smiles in their matching black outfits at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
WSJ recently named Reese their Entertainment Innovator of the Year and put her on the cover of their Innovators Issue.
The Oscar winner opened up to WSJ about her booming career.
“I know I’m good at things,” Witherspoon admitted. “And I’m over being bashful about it. Do basketball players have to sit there and act coy? Tell me something: Does LeBron James twiddle his thumbs and say, ‘Jeez, I’m kind of great at shooting, and I guess I’m OK at dribbling and passing’? No, he’s like, ‘I’m amazing! I rock!’ I wish more actresses had that kind of bravado.”
She added: “I was never going to be an actor who lives in their car because their dream was so big. [If acting didn’t work] I would have gone from Stanford to medical school and become a surgeon. Right now, I’d probably be the premier surgeon and pediatric cardiologist at Vanderbilt University … What? I’m just being honest. I’m ambitious, and I’m over hiding that.”
